Costs of training to become a broadcast journalist are a big issue - while undergraduate students can take up the usual (limited and means-tested) public funding, there is NO public funding for postgraduate education - but a fair number of industry-funded initiatives.
There's strong competition every year for what's on offer, but this kind of sponsorship or bursary is immensely valuable - not just in paying academic fees, but offering cost-of-living contributions, dedicated mentors and extended work placements - a foot in the door.
This sponsorship is not guaranteed to continue every year - it depends very much on whether budgets are being cut or maintained.
Most of the employers reach decisions in the first quarter of each year, announce the numbers and level of bursary and ask for applications, on their own websites or here on the BJTC website. Shortlisted applicants are interviewed, decisions made and the schemes usually close by mid-year.
The list of POSSIBLY available bursaries is therefore almost automatically out-of-date and is offered simply as a guide to what might be repeated - keep checking this site for updates.

The bursaries are usually aimed only at postgraduate students and the majority insist that applicants are on or have a firm offer of a place on a BJTC accredited course.
