The BJTC represents nearly all the UK broadcasting industry. It's supported financially and appoints directors to its Management Committee from three divisions of the BBC (News, Nations and Regions and Training) ITV News Group, ITN, IRN, C4, Sky News, Reuters, GCap Media News, the RadioCenter (formerly the Commercial Radio Companies Association), the NUJ and Skillset, the Sector Skills Council for the audio-visual industries.
Industry members invest heavily in the courses, for example providing exclusive work placements for students on BJTC accredited courses, bursaries, traineeships, guest lecturers, "editors-of-the-day" training materials and much more.
The BJTC is NOT a huge bureaucracy. All its members are committed to setting and maintaining the highest standards in broadcast journalism and its training. Most of its work is carried out by the voluntary efforts of professional journalists and trainers.
